Lennon’s Landscape Hopes To Make Your Backyard A Vacation Destination

“Maintaining what God has given us.”

The tagline of Lennon’s Landscape is simple, but it truly encompasses the determination of the business to create and maintain incredibly beautiful properties. From landscape design to retaining walls and patios, Lennon’s Landscape turns any lawn into a true work of art, highlighting the natural beauty as only the master landscapers at Lennon’s Landscape can do.

Founded in 2002 by Paul Lennon, Lennon’s Landscape was a small-scale operation long before it was incorporated. Lennon spent his high school years cutting lawns for neighbors who requested his help. He would pack his trusted lawnmower and weed trimmer into the back of a 1986 Oldsmobile in order to make it to all the day’s appointments, just as his grandfather did when he sold azaleas more than 70 years ago. “Maybe there’s something genetic there,” Lennon said of his grandfather’s and his shared green thumb.

Lennon continued his neighborhood business until his early 20s, when he decided to “make [the business] more official and do more than just cut grass.” From there, Lennon’s Landscape was born.

Lennon prides himself on the quality of his company, his employees and all of the work that Lennon’s Landscape does. Employees’ professional image and work ethic is outweighed only by their ability and willingness to speak with customers at any given point — addressing any concerns or questions they may have. Lennon and his employees do their best to educate customers both prior to and during jobs so that they understand what type of landscaping is feasible and appropriate for a given property; what, if any, ongoing maintenance should be expected; and what packages would best fit a certain price range.

Customer care is just as important as completing a good, professional job, Lennon explained. “You need to learn how to talk to people so they understand what they’re getting and why they’re getting it and let them know that [we’re] a better alternative to all those companies out there,” he said.

Lennon’s Landscape has expanded greatly over its 14-year history, but the company still has plenty of room to grow. Lennon feels his business isn’t yet in the position to freely give out donations, but he would like to give back to his high school alma mater — Granite Baptist School — as Lennon’s Landscape grows in the coming years. Personally, though, Lennon volunteers with two area churches by giving his time, “which is the most valuable thing you can give to a person,” he said.

No matter how much Lennon’s Landscape grows, though, Lennon himself will never forget his roots as the friendly neighborhood grass-cutter. A Lennon’s Landscape sign that sits on Veterans Highway practically adjacent to the Anne Arundel County Police Department headquarters is actually his father’s old boat trailer, repurposed to serve as a beacon of the company for all who pass it.

“[The sign] reminds me of where I came from and that was always about making wise decisions and investing smartly,” Lennon said. Smart decisions that are evident in each and every job he undertakes.
