Hailing from Bel Air, Ryan Leeb is a lifelong Marylander and part of a family of three generations of certified financial planners (CFPs). His family operated a small firm that served Baltimore County, and that has grown and evolved over the years.
Leeb began his career working alongside family for several years in an internal role focused on the areas of estate planning, succession planning and wealth management. His passions and giftings led him to earn an undergraduate degree in rhetoric from the University of Maryland, but he pivoted from the family career path of becoming a CFP and opted to pursue law school.
Leeb graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law, and he passed the bar exam in 2018. He initially opened his own office in 2019 before building a career while searching for a firm that aligned with his values where he could grow under a seasoned leader. Leeb found that home in Severna Park-based KMA Law Office, which he joined in April 2025.
“It was the one that felt right,” Leeb said, explaining that he was drawn to the firm because he quickly observed that owner Karen Authement and her team treat clients in much the same ways as his family firm did, with respect and consideration. He also recognized in Authement the characteristics of someone who could be a career mentor.
Over the last 15 years, KMA Law Office has served more than 2,000 clients in the greater Severna Park area and beyond. The firm’s practice areas include personal injury, workers’ compensation, and estate planning – Leeb’s area of expertise.
KMA Law Office offers comprehensive guidance in organizing estates. The firm’s thorough process includes gathering detailed information, reviewing goals for the estate planning process, and discussing the best ways to achieve those goals through wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advance directives.
“Proper estate planning involves looking at a client’s financial picture and working or coordinating with their financial planner. Ryan has a unique background of having worked in a financial planning firm for several years, reviewing and assisting their clients with estate planning,” Authement said of her firm’s newest attorney. “Ryan’s experience is a great addition to the KMA Law Office team and a great benefit to our clients.”
KMA Law Office prides itself on providing “big firm services with small firm personal attention,” taking the form of caring, efficient and experienced service for its clients. Like Authement and the rest of the firm, Leeb strives to help clients feel comfortable and cared for, with an emphasis on establishing trust and setting right expectations.
He noted that with estate planning, discussing death or incapacitation can be emotional. Leeb endeavors to help clients navigate that challenge and arrive at good solutions for them.
“When you lose a parent, I want that to be a moment in your life where you are able to focus on the grief and not the paperwork,” he said.
Married in October 2024, Leeb loves his husband, his family, and his Australian Shepherds.
KMA Law Office is located at 540 Ritchie Highway, Suite 201, in Severna Park. To learn more about all of the services the firm offers, go to www.kma-law.com.
