Severna Park residents Judy and James Sanders are preparing to open The New York Butcher Shoppe at 543 Benfield Road, bringing a selection of premium meats, prepared meals and specialty foods to the community.
The family-owned shop is targeting a late November opening, pending construction completion and final approvals.
Customers will find Certified Angus Beef, poultry, pork, house-made sausages, smoked meats and a selection of seafood. The menu also includes house-made crab cakes. The shop will offer freshly prepared meals, salads and sides, including refrigerated dishes that customers can take home and heat, as well as hot meals available for same-day pickup.
Customers can earn one reward point for every dollar spent through the shop’s Rewards Program. They also can choose from “Stock Your Freezer” packages and take advantage of online ordering and delivery. The shop’s smoker will stay busy, and custom smoking will be available on request.
For the Sanders family, opening the business in their community is particularly meaningful. Since James retired from the military, the couple has enjoyed putting down roots in Severna Park and looks forward to becoming part of the local business community.
“We want the shop to be a comfortable place where neighbors can get to know our team, ask questions about cuts and cooking, and find something for dinner,” Judy Sanders said.
New York Butcher Shoppe began in 1999 when Billy D’Elia and his family moved from Brooklyn to Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and saw a need for a full-service butcher shop. Customers turned franchisees Jim Tindal and Todd Prochaska purchased the brand in 2006 and moved its headquarters to Greenville, South Carolina. The company has since expanded throughout the Southeast and beyond.
