Toast Of Severna Park Toastmasters Hosting Speech Contest On January 20

Toast of Severna Park Toastmasters invites interested individuals to meet members and watch speech competition next Tuesday night. There are two competitions. In the “international” competition, the winner at the club level will advance through the organization with the overall winner being the international champion. And the Table Topics competition will be one of extemporaneous speaking with the topic only being provided shortly beforehand.

“Toast of Severna Park Toastmasters provides a supportive and positive environment where members have the opportunity to develop their communication and leadership skills,” said Geraldine Cvetic, club president for Toastmasters.

Evaluations of both competitions follow a different format than regular speech evaluations.

The competitions will be held during the club’s regular meeting time of 7:00pm–8:30pm at the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce.

Cvetic, who has served in various club positions, will be the Table Topics master. “Table Topics are one of my favorite parts of the meeting,” Cvetic said. “This is where guests and members are randomly selected to speak for one to two minutes. It helps you think and speak clearly on your feet.”

Toast of Severna Park Toastmasters meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm at the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce Office at 1 Holly Avenue in Severna Park.
