Stefanie Ashdown Memorial 5K Encourages Love, Hope, Kindness

Annual Event Set For September 14

Posted

Thanks to the support of sponsors, donors, runners and walkers, the nonprofit Stef Ripple raised over $37,000 last year during the annual Stefanie Ashdown Memorial “Do Your Best” 5K and 1-mile walk. Funds were used to spread ovarian cancer awareness, support ovarian cancer patients and their families, and keep “the ripple” going.

With that same mission in mind, the ninth annual event will be held on September 14 at Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold.

The 5K and walk also honors the legacy of Ashdown, a 1996 Severna Park High School graduate who lost her life to ovarian cancer in 2017. Ashdown’s family members want to share the principles of Ashdown’s life: be thankful, be helpful, be kind.

Race day will kick off with packet pickup and registration at 7:00am. A kids’ fun run will follow at 8:00am, with the 5K run shortly after at 8:15am, and the 1-mile walk at 8:25am. Awards for top finishers will be announced around 9:15am. Raffles will be held onsite and will close at 9:15am.
