Not only did several Severna Park and Broadneck teams claim state titles this fall, but two of them also cemented their spots in the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association record books.
The Severna Park girls cross country team took first place at the state finals at Hereford High School for the fourth straight year on November 9. Their peers on the Severna Park girls soccer team accomplished a special feat, winning their third straight state title in stunning fashion: with a golden goal at University of Maryland, Baltimore County on November 15.
After coming up one win short of a championship last season, the Broadneck volleyball squad earned the top prize in Class 4A this year. The Bruins beat Urbana in straight sets (28-26, 28-26, 25-22) at Harford Community College on November 15.
Broadneck’s Ben Coe finished as the Class 4A/3A boys golf champion after three days of competition at the University of Maryland from October 27-29.
Fall will be remembered as a successful season for these teams and that is just the public schools. Several private school teams also finished their seasons as champions.
