Spring College Report

Weisshaar Sets Towson Marks, Moves On To PLL

Posted

Archbishop Spalding graduate and Arnold resident Mikey Weisshaar had quite the spring.

The Towson senior punctuated his lacrosse legacy by putting his name atop the program’s goals and points record charts, equaling or breaking decades-old marks while also leading them to a regular season Coastal Athletic Association title and a top-16 national ranking.

Weisshaar led Towson in all three scoring categories, netting 47 goals and 29 assists for a total of 76 points. His final collegiate goal was his 154th for Towson, which equaled the program record set by Glenn Smith in 1991. He leaves as one of three players to eclipse the 200-point mark during his time at Towson, and his 234 career points are 13 better than previous record holder Bob Griebe, who held the record for 51 years.

Not only did Weisshaar become Towson’s all-time leading scorer this season, but he also continued his ascent to the top of the sport, being selected second overall in April’s Premier Lacrosse League draft by the Boston Cannons. He scored his first pro goal on May 15 against the Carolina Chaos, and through nine professional games, Weisshaar has 15 goals (tied for second-best on the team) and one assist.

Weisshaar was one of 139 local athletes competing at the collegiate level this spring whose participation and accolades were reported to the Severna Park Voice.
