Slugfest Ends With The Mets As Green Hornets 10U Rec Champions

The Green Hornets held 12U, 10U and 8U baseball recreational championships on June 15, followed by all-star games on June 17. The 10U title came down to a thriller, with the Mets defeating the Yankees 16-13 in the championship game of the Minors division at Kinder Farm Park on June 15.

Jace Coale pitched two scoreless innings for the Yankees, who had the bases loaded with no outs in the sixth inning. But the Mets shut down the scoring threat thanks to some key defensive plays by Chris Comegys and Jack Dever. Coale and Tristen Schelfe combined for four hits for the Yankees. It wasn’t enough as the Mets slugged their way to the win.

Mets players included (left to right) Rocco DiBitetto, Paul DiIonno, Curtis Dabbs, Wesley Johnson, Hudson Miller, Zeke Beauchamp, Fitz Murphy, Mav Ziebell, Chris Comegys, Carson Rayburn, Jack Dever, Carter McGuire and Alex Zakour.

The team was coached by Rusty Ziebell, Steve Neal, Drew Johnson and Alyse Dever.
