Severna Park Republican Women’s Club Celebrates 60 Years In Style

Archbishop Spalding High School senior Shannon Curtis is the winner of this year’s Marjorie Holt Scholarship. She was congratulated by Carolyn Smith, chair of the scholarship committee.

The Severna Park Republican Women's Club (SPRWC) celebrated its 60th anniversary with its annual fashion show fundraiser held at Chartwell Golf & Country Club on May 14. National Federation of Republican Women’s President Julie Harris, of Arkansas, served as the noted speaker.

SPRWC was chartered in 1964, and for 60 years, its members have assisted Republicans to get elected and supported them once in public office. In honor of founding member and former Congresswoman Marjorie Holt, the club offers a $1,000 scholarship to an Anne Arundel County senior and young woman to assist with future education. The award is based on the best essay submitted on a topic chosen by the committee. This year’s winner is Archbishop Spalding High School senior Shannon Curtis.
