A group of boys from Shipley’s Choice who first teamed up as second-graders have just wrapped up their third consecutive undefeated soccer season, a testament to their hard work, teamwork and love for the game.
The team began playing together in the Green Hornets program, in which they went undefeated in both second and third grades and won the league titles each season. Last fall, they captured the combined third/fourth-grade division, often competing against older teams and still finishing on top.
This year, wanting to keep the entire group together, the boys moved to the Arden soccer program. They also decided to take on a bigger challenge by playing up in the 11U division. They rose to the moment once again, going undefeated and winning the league.
This group of boys has learned to trust each other, focus on developing their own skills, and move the ball with quick passing and unselfish play. They are known as a hardworking, coachable group.
The team is coached by Pat Deitz and Adam Twigg, who have guided the group through all three undefeated seasons while teaching the boys that effort, teamwork and sportsmanship matter far more than any record.
The boys plan to continue playing together this winter in a local futsal league, taking on a new challenge with the same energy, commitment and love for the game that has defined them since they started playing together.
The team includes Charlie Deitz, Hudson Twigg, Carter Baranowsky, Beckett Milligan, Royce Sboray, Griffin Burke, Shane Jackson, Max Bullough, Loch Warren, Will Etter, Colin Law, Brayden Freiss, Kieran McHale, Turner Mundorf and Landon Edwards.
