Severna Park And Pasadena Residents Gather To Discuss Proposed Cannabis Dispensary

Posted

On November 17, I had the opportunity to attend a meeting hosted by local residents. Severna Park and Pasadena residents filled the hall of Pasadena United Methodist Church for a community meeting about a retail cannabis dispensary proposed to open in 2026 at 91 Ritchie Highway — the former Maryland Monogram property. The event was organized by a nearby homeowner whose property backs up to the site, prompting broader community interest due to the location’s proximity to the church and its preschool, both approximately 500 feet away.

Neighbors discussed questions related to safety, traffic, zoning and the impact the dispensary could have on families who rely on the church’s preschool and youth programs. Several attendees expressed a desire for greater transparency and a clearer understanding of the regulatory process before the project moves forward.

Residents were encouraged to submit feedback to the Maryland Cannabis Administration, which is currently reviewing public input as part of the licensing and approval process.

Community members who wish to learn more or share their views about the proposed dispensary may contact Allison Butler, deputy chief of the Maryland Cannabis Administration, at mca.policy@maryland.gov. Public comments will be accepted through December 14.
