Question Of The Month: Severn School

Posted
Each month, the Severna Park Voice poses a question to a local fifth-grade class. This month, students from Ms. Hayman’s class at Severn School answered the question:

"If you could invent something, what would it be, and why?"

I would invent an endless bag because you could pack anything and everything in it. It could grow bigger than a skyscraper or be smaller than a grain of sand. Whenever you want to grab something from it, just think about it, and it will go straight to your hand. My invention would cost 10 million pounds, so Mr. Beast and the King of England would buy it.
Adam H.

I would invent a robot that would do anything you asked it to do. It would cook, do chores, and it could even do my homework with its heavily trained AI brain. It would cost $13,000. This invention could help older people or people with disabilities if they couldn’t do the tasks themselves.
Ben C.

I would invent a make-up mask. The price is $15.99 for one mask and $25.99 for a pack of two masks! First, you put the mask on your face like a normal skin care mask and leave it on for 10 minutes. Then, peel off the mask, and you will have a full face of make-up!
Caroline C.

I would invent an AI robot chef. It would be in a big box and have an arm on top, a stove and an oven on a small counter, and tools on the side. When you want it to make something, you would order it on an app or on the screen where the robot is. When the robot is done making the food, it will put it on a conveyor belt and deliver it to any room in your house.
Cole P.

I would make a never-ending water bottle. I would do this because every day, many people run out of water in their water bottles, and they can’t refill them where they are. This invention would help people stay hydrated during the day and always have access to water.
Elizabeth L.

I would invent something called the “Every Other.” Basically, it is a watch, and you select something to learn, and it will teach you. The watch has everything in the world programmed into it, so you can learn anything within seconds. The watch scans your brain and puts everything you need to know into it.
Elle J.

I would invent something called CFA Sunday. CFA stands for “Chick-fil-A,” and as we know, Chick-fil-A is always closed on Sundays. So, I am creating an invention so you can get Chick-fil-A on Sundays when you really want it. The design of the invention will be a rectangular box, and on one side of the box will be the Chick-fil-A menu. The middle of the box will look like a microwave. After you order, your meal will be freshly made in the box.
Elsa F.

I would invent a machine that can transport you into your favorite books or stories. You would be able to interact with characters and follow along with the plot while completing the story. My invention would also work for games, movies or series.
Eve D.

I would invent a silent basketball hoop because when I wake up in the morning, I want to play basketball. I have a mini hoop in my bedroom and a hoop outside, and I am an early riser. I don’t want to wake my parents up because then they get grumpy.
Everett B.

I would invent a magical pen that takes you anywhere you want to go. You could write down on a piece of paper, “I want to go to Rome, Italy,” or “I need to get to my field hockey game!” and in an instant, you’ll find yourself at your destination! Sometimes you just want to be able to travel anywhere, knowing that you would be able to come back home.
Grace C.

I would invent a purse that has a built-in lock. The purse would have a button on the side that would open a compartment, and inside the compartment would be a combination lock. When you put the combination in, the zipper of the purse would lock. On the inside of the purse would be a small slot to put an AirTag so your family and friends would know where you are. Also, the purse would come in every color and size. I would call it “The Lock Box Bag.”
Harper D.

I would invent a baseball mouse for your computer. I think it would be really cool to have a rolling baseball on your desk as a mouse. You could toss it up and catch it like a ball because it’s basically the same as a ball.
J.P. K.

I would invent grip tape on a lacrosse stick that never loses its grip because I love lacrosse, and it is my favorite sport ever. It would help people who love lacrosse because the tape would always stay grippy, and you would not have to change it every year.
Jillian J.

I would invent a game called “Shoot Hoops for Robux.” In this game, you move an arrow using your finger or mouse. Once your aim is good, you let go and release the basketball into a hoop. If you make it, you receive 25 Robux. You would have to put in your password and username so the Robux could be sent. You get to play three times a day so that you don’t overload yourself with Robux.
Liam T.

I would invent functioning robot NFL referees because the NFL referees are so biased. Also, I love the Ravens, and usually all the teams we play get bailed out. Finally, I would have to program the referees not to make every call. This is because, if you watch closely enough, there is a flag on every play, but the current referees let them go to keep the game going. So, I would have to make it the same.
Mason A.

I would invent a teleportation device that could teleport anything, from people to staplers. If I could make this device, it could end the need for cars, trains, boats and even planes. This device would look like a high-tech version of an elevator — you would step in and type in where you wanted to go on a keypad. It would say, “Going to…” and then wherever you typed in, it would take you there in less than 10 seconds. My device would be sold for a significant amount of money, maybe about $300 million.
Nadia S.

If I could invent anything in the world, maybe even the galaxy, it would be never-ending flavor bubble gum. I don’t like when I have good-flavored gum and it runs out of flavor. I could have one piece of gum that lasts forever, and I would never need another one.
Sam P.

I would invent a teleporting machine. I travel a lot, and it takes a long time. This teleporting machine would take one second to travel, and it would be free. The first place I would want to go is Dubai to see the tallest building in the world.
