Neighbors Score Big With S(o)uper Bowl Food Drive

The Kansas City Chiefs weren’t the only big winners this winter. Good Neighbors Group held its S(o)uper Bowl Food Drive, collecting more than 4,500 items for Serving People Across Neighborhoods (SPAN) and My Brother's Pantry.

The event was successful due to the participation of 26 neighborhoods from Severna Park and the Broadneck peninsula. Severna Gardens, an 82-home community, donated 615 items and was named the winning neighborhood.

“To determine the winning neighborhood, we look at a ratio of the size of the neighborhood to the number of items collected,” said Julie Shay, the founder of Good Neighbors Group.

Ron and Jen Weist were the neighborhood captains responsible for the success of Severna Gardens, which was also one of two winners in 2019. Runners-up for 2020 included Woodberry Farms, West Severna Park, Winchester on the Severn, Westridge and Fair Oaks.
