Marjorie Holt Scholarship Award Open To Senior Girls

Posted

In honor of Marjorie Holt, who represented Maryland’s fourth district for seven terms in the United States House of Representatives, the Severna Park Republican Women’s Club (SPRWC) is offering a $1,000 scholarship opportunity to local students.

High school senior girls who reside in and attend school in Anne Arundel County, and who plan to attend college or a qualified trade school in fall 2024, are invited to submit essays to be considered for the scholarship. In 750 words or less, applicants are asked to reflect on a quote from Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address.

Holt was a longtime active resident of Severna Park and a founding member of the SPRWC. She was Maryland’s first female Republican elected to Congress. The club hopes to inspire young women with her example of achievement, leadership and service.

Eligibility details and essay requirements for the 2024 Marjorie Holt Scholarship Award are outlined on SPRWC’s website. Submissions are due no later than April 15 and should be sent to sprepublicansmd@gmail.com.
