Ledo Pizza A Slice Of Casual, Family Friendly Dining In Severna Park

Posted

If you’re looking for a casual dining atmosphere that won’t break the bank, look no further than Ledo Pizza in Severna Park. A community staple for years, the restaurant – with its trademark rectangular pizzas, weekly specials and kid-friendly environment – is a great choice for a bite to eat with the family, a stop-in after a sports game or a leisurely lunch break.

The restaurant chain was founded in 1955 in Adelphi, Maryland, and now boasts 100 franchise locations, all serving pizzas with handmade dough and topped with high quality cheeses and signature sauce. The menu also features a variety of salads, appetizers, entrees, subs and calzones, as well as a kids menu.

We arrived at the restaurant and were taken aback at how crowded it was. The hustle and bustle of busy servers, families dining and children enjoying their squares of pizza greeted us long before we walked down the corridor leading from the front door. Expecting a hostess to show us to a table, we were surprised to see signs directing us to seat ourselves, and even more surprised that we were able to find a table almost immediately.

It was a few minutes before we were greeted by our server and our drink orders were taken, but since the menus were conveniently stacked on the table, it wasn’t a problem. My dining partners and I were able to review the appetizer options and make a selection in no time.

Always one to save a few bucks, I brought in the Square Meal Deal coupon featured on Ledo Pizza’s website. The coupon was good for Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, and covered a 14-inch cheese pizza and one of Ledo’s signature Italian salads for only $10. As it turns out, on Wednesday nights, kids eat free at Severna Park’s Ledo Pizza location.

We were able to place our entire order when our server returned to the table with our beverages, and we selected an order of 12 Buffalo wings with blue cheese and celery ($12.49) in addition to the Square Meal Deal.

Expecting our appetizer’s arrival, we were surprised when our server brought out the 14” cheese pizza prior to the salad or wings. She was apologetic and promised the other items would be out shortly. Starving and ready to eat, we dug into the steaming hot pizza without hesitation. The small squares of homemade dough topped with the restaurant’s signature sauce and the perfect amount of gooey cheese were delicious.

As promised, the Buffalo wings and Italian salad were brought to our table in short order. The wings were delicious – jumbo-sized, slightly crispy and with just the right amount of heat. They were served with a generous amount of blue cheese as well as a stack of crunchy celery.

After devouring several wings each, we dug into the Ledo Italian salad. The signature salad is always a go-to menu item whenever I dine at the local restaurant. It is heaped with lettuce, tomatoes, olives, pepperoncini and Italian meats and cheeses, and slathered in the house Romano Cheese & Herb dressing, which is also for sale by the jar.

To round out our meal, we couldn’t resist splitting a slice of the German chocolate cake ($4.25). The good-sized piece was plenty for three to split; however, the cake itself was a bit dense and a tad on the dry side, as if it had been sitting in the case for a few days.

Ledo Pizza is great spot to bring the family for an easy-on-the-wallet night out, especially if you take advantage of the kids-eat-free Wednesday night special. Overall, our experience at Ledo Pizza of Severna Park was pleasant. The cost of the meal was more than reasonable (less than $35 before tip for a party of three) and the taste of the food outweighed the fact that our entrée came to the table before the appetizer and salad.

Our server was friendly, prompt with beverage refills and extremely courteous. The entire menu is also available for carryout, which is another great option if you are looking for a tasty meal without the hassle of cooking.
