Harbor City Music Company Show Chorus (HCMC) has officially reclaimed its spot among the a cappella elite. Following a first-place win at the Atlantic Bay-Mountain regional competition in April, the chorus is eligible to compete at the Sweet Adelines international convention in Seattle in October 2027.
Competing against top-tier ensembles from across the region, members of Harbor City Music Company wowed the panel of judges with their technical expertise, vibrant energy and soulful storytelling. Known for their intricate four-part a cappella harmony in the barbershop style, the chorus continues to push the boundaries of the art form.
“Winning the regional title is a testament to the dedication, talent and heart of every single singer in this chorus,” said Michael Gellert, director of Harbor City Music Company, which rehearses in Severna Park. “We are thrilled to represent the Atlantic Bay-Mountain region in Seattle. It’s an honor to share our music with an international audience and to stand alongside the best choruses in the world.”
This regional victory comes on the heels of HCMC’s performance at last year’s international competition in Columbus, Ohio, where they placed fourth in the world.
The road to Seattle 2027 begins now. Over the next year, HCMC will embark on an intensive journey of musical refinement, choreography rehearsals, and community fundraising to support their travel to the pacific northwest.
To celebrate this milestone with the community that supports them, Harbor City Music Company will host a special live performance on October 11. This concert offers the public a front-row seat to the award-winning sound and choreography that impressed the regional judges.
