Two days before the first measurable snowfall of the season blanketed Severna Park in a couple inches of snow, meteorologist Justin Berk hosted a “Faith in the Flakes” presentation at Severna Park Elementary School (SPES). Organized by members of the SPES Parent Teacher Organization, the assembly brought to life the school’s science and STEM curriculum for students of all grade levels. Through hands-on demonstrations and real-world connections, students deepened their understanding of weather, climate and the scientific process. They asked questions, made observations, and thought critically like scientists. SPES Principal Emily Abell shared that experiences like this reinforce the school’s commitment to STEM learning by showing students how classroom science applies to real careers and real-world problem solving.
