Dancers From Severna Park, Broadneck High Schools Earn All-State Honors

Severna Park High School students Vicky Beatty and Sophia Crivella, along with Broadneck High School’s Mallory Willis, have taken their spots among the top 26 dancers in Maryland.

Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) announced its 13 all-state dancers on Monday. Broadneck student Cassidy Gallimore also made the list as an honorable mention.

Both the all-state dancers and three honorable mention choices were selected through an audition judged by a panel of arts administrators and college dance faculty members. That panel made decisions based on technique, musicality, professionalism, performance, attitude and likelihood of future success in dance. Dancers were also required to have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or better, show leadership at their schools, and have a record of service to their local dance program.

“We couldn’t be prouder of our dance program and our incredible students for achieving the honor of all-state dance and honorable mention,” AACPS Academic Specialist for Dance Education Nicole Deming said in a statement. “Their hard work, passion and dedication have truly paid off, and this recognition is a testament to their talent and commitment to excellence.”

Other Anne Arundel County all-state dancers included Claudis Yanss (Arundel High School), Gracie Beers and Sasha Failli (Crofton High School), Maliya David and Katherine Kirvan (Old Mill High School), Leola Keys (Severn Run High School), Audriana Nier (South River High School), and Alyssa Stallings, Tessa Stallings and Catherine Venters (Southern High School).

Bailey Deming (Chesapeake High School) and Janae Johnson (North County High School) received honorable mention honors.
