In late April, county officials, career firefighters, members of the Cape St. Claire Volunteer Fire Company (CSCVFC) and community members gathered for a ceremonial groundbreaking on a new $18 million fire station in Cape St. Claire. Construction has already begun on the new 21,571-square-foot facility, which will feature four drive-through apparatus bays, 17 bunks for career and volunteer staff, a community meeting room, safety upgrades and more. Station 19 serves not only Cape St. Claire, but also a large portion of Arnold and the Broadneck Peninsula including Sandy Point State Park and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Station 19’s career firefighters also operate one of the county’s two fire boats.
