Completion Of Broadneck Peninsula Trail Celebrated With Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony

Posted

On March 30, county officials held a ceremony to commemorate the official opening of phases 1B, 3 and 5 of the Broadneck Peninsula Trail, which now links the greater trail network to Sandy Point State Park. The roughly 8-mile trail, used by walkers, runners, cyclists and others, provides vehicle-free access to Anne Arundel Community College, the Broadneck Library, Broadneck Park, Bay Head Park, neighborhoods, retail destinations and more. The $17.5 million project has been in the works since 1999.

Director of Recreation and Parks Jessica Leys, County Executive Steuart Pittman, Director of Public Works Karen Henry, County Councilwoman Amanda Fiedler, BikeAAA President and Anne Arundel County Bicycle Advisory Commission member Jon Korin, and the Friends of Anne Arundel County Trails’ Jack Keene delivered remarks prior to a ribbon cutting to mark this milestone in developing the county’s trail network.
