Celebrate Christmas Around The Park This Weekend

Posted

With only 21 days remaining until Christmas, calendars are quickly filling up with family gatherings, visits with Santa, church services, shopping outings and more. This weekend, there are plenty of holiday events right here in Severna Park to add to your list of ways to celebrate the Christmas season, from a live concert to a craft bazaar to a jingle bell hayride and more.

Nothing says the Christmas season has officially begun like a hometown tree lighting ceremony, and this Friday the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce (GSPACC) will host its annual tree lighting from 5:00pm to 6:30pm. Community members are invited to gather at 1 Holly Avenue for a magical evening of live entertainment, sweet treats and visits from Santa and the Grinch before counting down to the big moment – illuminating the tree.

He's making a list and will soon check it twice, and this weekend kids of all ages can tell Santa what they’re hoping to discover under the Christmas tree at several community events. Can’t make it to the tree lighting on Friday? Santa will be at Kinder Farm Park on Saturday and Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company (EHVFC) on Sunday.

Join the Friends of Kinder Farm Park for the annual Jingle Bell Hayride, taking place from 10:00am to 1:00pm on December 7, and meet Santa and Mrs. Claus. Festive hayrides will depart every 30 minutes, and guests can enjoy roasting marshmallows, warm drinks and tasty treats. The Kinder farmhouse will also be open and decorated for the holidays. Purchase tickets in advance online.

Kids can munch cookies and sip cocoa with Old Saint Nick from 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Sunday afternoon at EHVFC. Crafts, activities and fire prevention materials will be provided at this free event, and lunch items will be available for sale. Check the EHVFC Facebook page for more information and to learn about the upcoming neighborhood Santa Runs.

Looking for a one-of-a-kind gift for someone on your list? Check out over 150 unique vendors at the 40th annual Broadneck High School Holiday Craft Bazaar on Saturday between 9:30am and 3:00pm. The event serves as a fundraiser for Broadneck athletics and draws roughly 2,000 shoppers each year.

Press pause on the hustle and bustle of the season to take in a live nativity scene with animals at St. John the Evangelist on Saturday from 6:15pm to 7:30pm. Or, join the Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church choir and a professional orchestra for a Baroque by Candlelight Christmas Concert at 7:00pm on Saturday. Both events are free, and tickets are not required.
