On Wednesday, the first day of the college football early signing period, Broadneck sent off one current and one former player to the collegiate ranks.

Standout Broadneck wide receiver Eli Harris inked his national letter of intent on Wednesday to join the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis.

Harris committed to the Midshipmen in July and backed up his commitment by helping Broadneck to their first state championship game appearance since 2003.

Harris earned first-team All-County and All-Region honors, as well as being named second team All-Metro by the Washington Post. He leaves Broadneck in second place on the school's all-time list for receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns, and he also is in the top 10 of Maryland public school history for career receptions and receiving yards.

The other player announced by the Bruins on Wednesday is one that used to call Broadneck home. Defensive back Anthony Hawkins made good on a longstanding commitment to Villanova, signing his national letter of intent to join the Wildcats.

Hawkins is in a postgraduate year at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut, where he stood out at safety, totaling 31 tackles and nine pass breakups on the year.
