Broadneck Volleyball Brushes Aside Glen Burnie

After an early-week five-set heartbreaker against Arundel, the Broadneck volleyball team benefited from a quick pick-me-up.

On Thursday, the Bruins brushed aside that defeat, and Glen Burnie, with a 25-8, 25-12, 25-6 victory to get back in the win column.

It was a relaxed atmosphere with a needed result: virtually everyone played and got on the stat sheet, and the squad righted itself after the first wobble of the season.

“I thought everyone looked confident,” said Broadneck coach Tracey Realbuto. “Everyone was really supportive [of all the players] tonight.”

Brin Chesnut led Broadneck with seven kills in the match, followed by Amanda Protzman with six kills. Addison Sladky and Kennedy Smith each had five kills. Allie Chesnut served five aces, while Addison Britton and Brin Chesnut each added three.

“It was a good game [to bounce back],” Allie Chesnut said. “This is more practice for us to continue to get better for the harder games. We need to treat all our games like the Arundel game, like a tough game, and play at that level either way.”

Broadneck (7-1 overall, 3-1 in county play) is off until October 5 when the team hosts Severna Park.
