American Legion Post 175 Collecting Care Packages For Heroes

Through the end of the month, community members have a unique, local opportunity to support active-duty service members. The American Legion Post 175 in Severna Park is hosting a care package drive, and anyone can contribute supplies through its Amazon wish list. The drive will support two Army units, one Air Force unit, and one Marine Corps unit.

Fifth graders at Broadneck Elementary School and sixth- and eighth-grade students led by AVID coordinator Dana Gerard at Northeast Middle School have been busy creating artwork, cards and letters to include in the care packages.

The organizers of the drive have a simple but meaningful goal: to bring joy to those who sacrifice so much for others.

Items on the wish list include snacks, candies, games, socks and more. Donations can be made directly through Amazon or dropped off at American Legion Post 175, located at 832 Manhattan Beach Road, before March 1. Event organizers welcome donations that are not on the list if they are something a service member might appreciate. To learn more, view the care package drive Facebook page.
