Hosted by Stef Ripple, the Stefanie Ashdown Memorial “Do Your Best” 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk will pass its 10-year milestone this fall. The race is planned for Sunday, September 13, at Anne Arundel Community College.
The event serves as a day to come together as a community to honor loved ones, support ovarian cancer warriors, and live out Ashdown’s mission: Be thankful. Be helpful. Be kind.
Ashdown was a Severna Park native, wife and mother of three who battled ovarian cancer for two and a half years. Her energy and kindness were contagious, and their impact became known as the “Stef Ripple.” The nonprofit founded in her memory continues that ripple effect by spreading the principles that guided her life.
The 10th annual race will also honor the life of Katie Filling, a devoted member of the Stef Ripple community. Filling met Ashdown while they both underwent chemotherapy and attended every race.
