SPHS Mock Trial Team Wins State Championships

The Severna Park High School Mock Trial team recently placed ahead of more than 140 other teams statewide and took first place at the Maryland State Championship. After success at the county and circuit levels, the team went to states and defeated James M. Bennett High School of Wicomico County by nine points on Thursday, April 23, then Allegany High School of Allegany County by 1 point (57-56) on Friday, April 24. Perfect scores in the final four matches went to all prosecution attorneys and witnesses. The undefeated team members include captains Bella Pazaryna and Jake Gilinsky, attorneys Patrick Hofstedt, Maeve Murphy, Gina Taddeo and Cory Jeweler, and witnesses Katie Jo McMillan, Colin Fox, Clifford Jamieson, Emma Bourgeois, Sydney Clasen and Josee Molavi.
