SPHS “It’s Academic” Team Makes It To Finals

On May 13, the Severna Park High School “It’s Academic” team made it all the way to the finals. In the semifinals, they played Middletown (second place) and Howard (third place) for a show to be broadcast Saturday, June 17. In the finals, they played Centennial (first place) and Dulaney (third place) for a match to be broadcast June 24. “It’s Academic” members Antonio Karides, Tyler Smith and Ben Luke won $2,500 for the team and Orioles tickets and an art book for themselves. Luke is a junior and will be back next year. Karides, a senior, is a Banneker/Key scholar and will attend University of Maryland next year. Tyler Smith, another senior, will go to Georgia Tech this fall.
