Letter To The Editor: U.S. Postal Service

Posted

As the postmaster of Millersville, and with May being Military Appreciation Month, I am proud to have 12 team members who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces. Each raised their hands twice to take the oath of office serving our country as veterans and the community of Millersville in their roles in the United States Postal Service.

The U.S. Postal Service is entering its fourth year of the Delivering for America (DFA) Plan. It is a 10-year focus to transform the postal service that is self-sustaining and high performing. In the first three years since, the postal service has aggressively advanced core DFA strategies and initiatives. Two of those strategies is hiring and improved customer experiences.

Our most valued assets are our employees, and the goal of the DFA is to be an employer of choice. We continually look for members of the community to join our team. If you, a family member, or friend would like to know more about a career, please stop in and I would be glad to assist. If you prefer, another option is visiting our website, www.usps.com/careers, to explore the many diverse opportunities the postal service provides. I began my career more than 23 years ago as a part-time flexible carrier and have been the postmaster here since 2018. Apply today! Who knows, you may be a future postmaster.

Our team is always striving for excellent customer experiences and some of our service indicators are the best in Maryland. With the package business increasing year-after-year, our Last Mile Package Performance is ranked No. 1, which measures the performance delivery that have both the Out for Delivery (OF) and a Stop the Clock scan event on the same date, which coincides with our top C360 package performance indicator that comes from customer feedback and calculated by customer satisfaction.

On behalf of the more than 650,000 women and men of the United States Postal Service, and our team here – we are delivering for America and Millersville.

Ebony Thompson
Postmaster, Millersville
United States Postal Service
