Join EB Day On The B&A September 21

Since her daughter was diagnosed with a rare skin disease called epidermolysis bullosa, Elkridge resident Heather Federici has been searching for every platform she can find to raise funds and awareness. That search has brought her and Kim Stammer to the B&A Trail, where they will hold EB on the B&A on September 21.

Runners, bikers and walkers are encouraged to come anytime between 7:30am and 3:00pm to help the cause. For the $35 signup fee, participants also get coffee at The Big Bean (7:30am-4:00pm), a scoop of ice cream at Bruster’s (Severna Park location from noon-8:00pm or Glen Burnie location from 11:00am-8:00pm) and access to a lunch buffet at Severna Park Taphouse with two beer tickets (11:00am-3:00pm). These and other businesses will serve as water stops.
Severna Park Taphouse manager Jessica Tinordi said she immediately wanted to contribute when she was contacted by Stammer.

“It’s such a difficult and rare disease,” Tinordi said. “It’s also called butterfly disease. The skin doesn’t form properly and breaks off, almost like butterfly wings.”

Wristband pickup and check-in will be available on EB Day in front of The Big Bean from 7:30am to 11:00am and also at Severna Park Taphouse from 11:00am to 2:30pm. All proceeds will support EB Research Partnership. Registration ends September 15. To participate or for more information, go to www.runsignup.com.
