Trains Are Now On Display At Homestead Gardens

In an enclosed area at Homestead Gardens in Severna Park, a decorative train display adds some vivid scenery to the store. A sight for all ages, the single-track display is approximately 8-by-20 feet.

“There’s a lot of detail,” said Heidi Tyler, the general manager of Homestead Gardens’ Severna Park location. “We put in little trees, live plant material and tons of ‘snow.’ It also has many lights and moving parts.”

The train runs on demand because sometimes it needs a break. Guests can ask a Homestead Gardens employee to run the train if it does not appear to be in use.

“It’s a huge attraction,” Tyler said. “It’s a labor of love that goes into it.”

Homestead Gardens is located at 522 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Large and festive holiday displays are also at the Davidsonville store (743 West Central Avenue) and the Smyrna, Delaware, location (5580 Dupont Parkway).
