“The Lighthouse Man” Marks Simon Smith’s Third Release

Severna Park author Simon Smith recently released his third novel, “The Lighthouse Man,” now available on Kindle and eBooks. In the tradition of his first two books, 2016’s “Bubbles Always Burst” and 2017’s “Stealing Office Supplies,” this latest work follows an underdog who gains a new lease on life by taking a chance on a relationship he never expected he would find, all told in Smith’s signature stream-of-consciousness style.

With “The Lighthouse Man,” Smith’s protagonist is Drex, a guy still battling demons from his past, still trying to figure things out, still trying to cast off doubt as to whether or not he’s a complete bum. Into his life comes Quincy, the 11-year-old daughter he didn’t even know he had – and she’s facing a life-altering situation that’s turning her life upside down. Quincy’s mom – Drex’s tough-as-nails ex – is terminally ill. And now is the time for Drex to step up and be the dad he never knew he could be.

For Smith, writing this latest book was the most personal of his three so far. “Being a dad defines me, and that’s what I was trying to get at with this one,” he said. “There’s nothing more meaningful, and that’s why this one was so special. It’s a simple story, but it goes deep into who I am.”

“The Lighthouse Man” and Smith’s other novels are available for all handheld reading devices – such as Nook, Kindle, iBook and others – from Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
