SPark U16’s Win NIT


The SPark U16 field hockey team finished an excellent season on March 1 by winning the National Indoor Tournament in Manheim, Pennsylvania.

SPark’s U16 team of Bridget Donovan, Lily Mullen, Linnea Alsted, Ally Keith, Meredith Schepens, Sydney Rowe, Bekah Mayron, Ava Drexler-Amey,  Aleah Dinmore and Ruby DeFrees went 5-0 at the tournament, defeating teams from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, Chicago and New Jersey while scoring 35 goals and allowing only 11. The team had multiple games in the tournament with at least five players scoring.

With college coaches in attendance for every SPark game, coach Betz Wild said the team “received several compliments from officials for playing a skilled, clean game.”

The SPark U16’s went a combined 27-5-1 on the season.
