Severna Park, Broadneck Win Thursday Night Football Matchups

Severna Park 30, Northeast 7

The Falcons received strong contributions on offense and defense in route to a 30-7 win at Northeast on April 1. Senior running back Colin Shadowens scored a rushing touchdown, and sophomore quarterback Seamus Patenaude had one rushing touchdown and one touchdown pass to junior wide receiver Colton Adams. Junior linebacker Brayden Layne returned an interception for a score to cap Severna Park’s stout defensive performance.

Next on the schedule for Severna Park are home matchups against Glen Burnie on April 9 and Chesapeake on April 16.

Broadneck 21, Old Mill 15

Trailing by two points with two minutes to go in the game, Broadneck junior quarterback Josh Ehrlich completed his biggest pass of the night: a 17-yard touchdown strike to freshman wide receiver Eli Harris to complete the Bruins’ 21-15 comeback win over the Old Mill Patriots.

A multitude of penalties and turnovers kept the game low-scoring and close throughout, with neither side able to find much rhythm. Old Mill jumped out to an early 9-0 lead following a safety and kick-return touchdown from sophomore Daquan Dorsey. Their lead stood at 9-7 at the half, before another touchdown from Dorsey, this time a 1-yard scamper, increased their lead to 15-7 with 10 minutes remaining. It would be all Broadneck during the final 10 minutes, however, as the Bruins scored 14 unanswered points to secure the victory.

Ehrlich, who contributed all three Broadneck touchdowns, displayed his dual-threat ability throughout the contest, as the Patriots’ defense kept him on his toes all night. He rushed for a pair of scores, while also tossing the deciding touchdown, to help seal the deal for the Bruins. While the Bruins’ offense struggled for much of the night, Ehrlich and company had just enough left in the tank to flip the script and take home the victory.

The win moves Broadneck to 2-0 in the COVID-19 shortened season, with a matchup against Arundel looming. Old Mill drops to 1-1 with the loss and will look to get back in the win column against Meade next week.
