Quilter Pieces Together Top Honors

Posted

The Annapolis Quilt Guild held its annual Quilts by the Bay show from June 10-11 at Broadneck High School. Arnold resident Julie Antinucci took home Best in Show honors for her quilt “Weight of a Feather.” She also won first place for best pieced quilt and second place for People’s Choice. There were more than 165 quilt entries in this year’s show.

Each star in Antinucci’s quilt is made of 450 pieces, and there are nine stars. She said it took her more than two years to complete this complicated quilt.

“There are so many talented guild members,” Antinucci said. “This was the first year where we used impartial judges to decide all of the awards except the People’s Choice award. So, it blew me away to win Best in Show!”

Antinucci has been quilting for 18 years and has been a member of the Annapolis Quilt Guild for 15 years.
