Pride Events Around Town, Worth The Drive

June is Pride Month, and whether you’re looking for something nearby or wanting to drive to Washington, D.C., or Baltimore, it’s not hard to find a way to celebrate. Here are some highlights of what’s coming up this month:

Capital Pride Parade -- Saturday, June 8

The Capital Pride Parade features more than 200 organizations in a 1.5-mile parade through the Dupont and Logan Circle neighborhoods of Washington, D.C. The parade features floats, banners and a variety of entertainment to celebrate LGBT history. The parade kicks off at 21st and P streets NW, and it ends at 14th and R streets NW. The parade runs 4:30pm-8:00pm, but the block party lasts until 10:00pm.

Maryland LGBT History Listening Session -- Wednesday, June 12

Learn about LGBT history in Maryland at a public forum and listening session hosted by Preservation Maryland. This listening session is part of a five-session series during Pride Month. The event will be at the AIA Chesapeake Bay Chapter storefront in Annapolis. It runs 6:00-8:00pm.

LGBT Pride Night @ Camden Yards -- Wednesday, June 12

Hit one out of the park this Pride Month at Camden Yards. The Orioles are celebrating Pride Night with a special pride hat and donations to Moveable Feast and The Pride Center of Maryland. There is a variety of ticket packages to choose from, and the prices range $27-$75. The game starts at 7:05pm.

Three Centuries Of Queer History Walking Tour -- Thursday, June 13

Dr. Christopher Mielke is leading a walking tour of Annapolis focusing on the LGBTQ people who have lived there since the 1700s. The tour meets on the corner of State Circle and Maryland Avenue (outside of Harry Browne’s). The cost is a $10 donation to Annapolis Pride. The walking tour is 5:30pm-7:00pm.

Pride Night @ Bowie Baysox -- Thursday, June 13

In partnership with Annapolis Pride, the Bowie Baysox are hosting their first-ever Pride Night. To celebrate, the Baysox are offering a special ticket package that includes a box seat and pride hat. Tickets are $30, and the game starts at 6:35pm.

Lunch & Learn: What Does It Mean To Be Transgender? -- Saturday, June 15

The Broadneck Library is hosting a Lunch & Learn for Pride Month with the discussion topic “What Does It Mean To Be Transgender?” The lunch invites community members to spend time with members of the transgender community and learn about their lives. Guests should bring a bagged lunch. Lunch & Learn is from noon to 1:00pm.

Baltimore Pride -- Saturday, June 15

The Baltimore Pride Parade is now in its 44th year. The parade is an 11-block procession from N. Charles and 33rd to N. Charles and 23rd. This year, the parade includes a mini Pet Parade for the first time. The parade is 1:00pm-3:00pm. Ahead of the parade is the High Heel Race, which is at 25th and N. Charles at 12:30pm. Following the parade is the Block Party, which is located at Station North and starts at 4:00pm.

Annapolis Pride 2019: Inaugural Parade & Festival -- Saturday, June 29

Annapolis is hosting its inaugural LGBTQ+ Pride Parade & Festival. The parade begins at Amos Garrett Boulevard and West Street, and it will finish at Calvert Street and West Street. The parade kicks off at noon, and the festival goes until 5:00pm.

Drag Queen Storytime -- Saturday, June 29

The Severna Park Library is hosting a special storytime event for Pride Month. Stop by the library to make a wand and/or tiara while Balena Canto shares stories and songs. This family-friendly event starts at 1:00pm.
