Plastic Surgeon Launches New Practice To Provide More Personalized Patient Care

Most consumers are familiar with the motto “First, do no harm,” excerpted from the Hippocratic Oath. However, how that simple phrase is translated to the individual patient experience has become increasingly important, as the delivery of medical care has evolved into a less personalized process.

One noted plastic surgeon decided that bringing back that more intimate patient care experience was just as important to him as it is to patients. “After 22 years in practice, I decided to create that more patient-focused, intimate patient care experience by leaving a large multi-specialty plastic surgery group and launching my own practice,” said Daniel Laughlin of Severna Park.

Laughlin Plastic Surgery opened its doors this summer and is seeing patients at 166 Defense Highway, Suite 101, in Annapolis, and at 505A Dutchmans Lane, Suite 1, in Easton.

“For me, the doctor-patient relationship is crucial regardless of what area of specialty you practice,” he added. “I strongly believe that the best patient outcomes are a function of how well you know your patients and understand them. You just can’t achieve that if you don’t take the time to get to know them.”

Laughlin Plastic Surgery offers a comprehensive menu of plastic surgery procedures, including face lifts (with and without fat grafting), “mommy makeovers,” liposuction, cool sculpting, breast augmentation (traditional and endoscopic), rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery and skin cancer treatments. The practice also offers facial aesthetic treatments such as Botox, injectable filler treatments, laser treatments and intense pulsed light.

The practice staff also includes a full-time aesthetician who offers permanent makeup, facial peels and dermaplaning.

Laughlin is board-certified in plastic surgery from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons as well as the John Staige Davis Society (Maryland Society of Plastic Surgery). He served as the chief of surgery at Anne Arundel Medical Center from 2000 to 2003.

Laughlin earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. He completed his general surgery residency at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and his plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta.

Laughlin has participated in numerous medical missions including providing medical relief efforts in Haiti, and he has volunteered in Croatia and the out islands of the Bahamas.
