Liff, Walsh & Simmons, a full-service business law firm, has welcomed Alanna Casey, esquire, as an associate to expand the firm’s employment law and litigation practice groups.

Casey brings a blend of professional and legal experience to Liff, Walsh & Simmons, previously serving as an employment associate at a regional Baltimore law firm and as a U.S. Air Force (USAF) intelligence officer and military employment attorney.

As an employment law associate, Casey represented physicians, dentists, medical facilities and a variety of business owners as they navigated employment issues, contracts and internal investigations.

Additionally, Casey served as the chief of civil litigation at Oklahoma’s Tinker Air Force Base, a military base with over 26,000 military and civilian employees. She represented the USAF as general counsel in Merit Systems Protection Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission cases and oversaw employment investigations.

“Alanna’s skills and experience as an employment lawyer in both the military and private sector will enhance our employment practice’s services,” said Melissa Menkel McGuire, partner and practice director for employment law at Liff, Walsh & Simmons.

Casey graduated from the University of Baltimore School of Law in May 2019 in the top 2% of her class. She interned for Chief Judge Joseph Getty of the Court of Appeals of Maryland. Casey also served as staff editor for the University of Baltimore Law Review, was co-president of the National Trial Competition Team, and taught civil procedures while a teaching assistant.

Casey is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association and the Anne Arundel Bar Association. In her free time, she competes in downhill mountain bike races. Casey has always been an avid athlete and is a three-time world strongwoman (lightweight) champion.

“I am grateful to have joined LWS’ strong team of professionals where excellence and integrity are the guiding principles,” Casey said. “These core values are present in every client interaction and service. This makes the LWS client experience above others, and I am proud to be a part of that mission.”
