Killer Bees Make A Buzz In First Season

Posted

The Killer Bees, a new team comprised of fifth- and sixth-graders, finished 3-3 in the Middie Blue Jays League during a unique field hockey season in 2020.

“The Killer Bees made the best of many obstacles this season, such as optional goggle-wearing, mask-wearing to and from the field, six feet distance between players at all times, two spectators at games per player, only six games and no playoffs,” said assistant coach Aleigh Vancaster. “These girls took what they were given and did their very best. I can say that we were just very thankful to be back on the field at all this fall.”

The Killer Bees are Morgan Anderson, Cailin Bender, Leah Cole, Maya Doss, Jillian D’Amico, Abigal Esposito, Meg Feemster, Claire Grimshaw, Chloe Hedeman, Audrey Lester, Addie Matthews, Avery McGee, Hadley Patton, Grace Peterson, Teagan Polish, Finlay Sprinkel, Olivia Swartz, Ava Swartz, Addison Tetrault, Emma Vancaster and Sara Wagner. The team is led by head coach Nicole Wagner and Aleigh Vancaster.
