Join SRA’s Water Quality Team

Posted

The Severn River Association (SRA) is launching the 2021 water quality (WQ) monitoring season, and the organization could use some helping hands to advance the scientific understanding of the watershed.

By joining the SRA WQ team, you have a marvelous opportunity to explore and appreciate the Severn River.

The SRA is looking for volunteers who can help for a three-hour cruise on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday mornings. There are plenty of opportunities ahead. Volunteers monitor the river from April through the first week in November. The SRA will provide training on the boat and volunteers will become certified as a water quality monitor using the Chesapeake Monitoring Cooperative (CMC) protocols.

All the data collected from weekly tours is shared with the scientific, regulatory and academic communities via CMC's Chesapeake Data Explore sharing platform.

Volunteers will enjoy the outdoors and a morning river cruise; collect scientific data; monitor the river, creeks, skies and shorelines; make new friends; and share stories about wildlife and their habitats.

To volunteer, email info@severnriver.org and put “WQ Team” in the message box.
