GSPC To Unveil Survey

Posted

The Greater Severna Park Council (GSPC) will release a resident survey on the second Tuesday of January 2011. The survey, the first since 1992, was written by a committee of council members using the old survey as a guide, and focusing on what residents of Severna Park really want for the community.

“I want to ensure the GSPC truly has a direction that is in sync with local home owners in the entire community,” explained GSPC President Jerry L. Pesterfield. “We want to head toward a common goal of vibrant shops, eateries and business that reflect the local community.”
The council felt it was time to assess local attitudes and concerns as well as get a better understanding of the demographics of the community.
“The survey is highly detailed, with a local focus,” said Dan Nataf, Chair of the GSPC Public Works Committee. “We’ll be looking at basic demographics, plus asking questions about quality of life, strengths and weaknesses of the area, housing, family friendliness, schools and noise pollution.”
Nataf explained the survey will cover all aspects of life in Severna Park because the GSPC’s primary focus is on ensuring they understand the needs and desires of the local home owners and businesses that make up the community.
The survey will be unveiled at the January GSPC meeting and delegates will distribute information to their areas, it will also go out electronically, and remain open for one month. The results will help guide council decisions on issues important to the community.
“We will try our best to get in sync with the community,” finished Pesterfield. “It’s necessary to ensure we have a good relationship with both the home owners and local businesses so we can work together on common goals.”
The survey will go live on the GSPC web site after the January 2011 meeting, look for the link at www.GSPCouncil.org, and expect to see regular updates in The Voice.
