Getting Fabulous Is Easy At Fabu' Salon

Fabu’ Salon is a newcomer to the Park, as they just opened in March of this year. But walking into the shop is still a familiar experience thanks to owner Jean-Marie Carroll and her staff. “All of the girls have been together for years,” she explains. “One has been with me since 1988.”

Carroll has always been in the beauty business. “I was inspired by my guidance counselor in high school,” she says. “I had an opportunity and it just blossomed.” Carroll describes herself as a very creative person. “This is just my niche. We have a sisterhood here. The shop reflects our energy and we love what we do. We love making people happy and pretty; we love bringing out the best in people.”

The Severna Park location was really just a stroke of luck as well. “It’s all a blessing,” Carroll continues. “It just fell into place. I’m buddied up with Redken, I have a few people there who’ve been with me through thick and thin. I called and started inquiring about locations.” She says Redken’s Ellen Lane, who also handles a different Fabu Salon in New York City, came up with the location. It was a salon that had been closed for three years, and was just perfect for Carroll. The name was sort of a tribute to that NYC salon, “And it’s catchy,” laughs Carroll.

The folks at Fabu’ are all about community, “We try to stay involved in just about everything,” shares Carroll. “Customer appreciation and professionalism are our top priority. We work to stay constantly up to date on technology, training and trends, but it’s not a burden. We love it, and it adds to the positive energy.”

“It’s a real community here,” Carroll continues. “It’s very family-oriented and we serve the entire family. We do everybody.” Throughout October, the salon offered pink feathers and extensions for breast cancer awareness. On Fridays during football season, customers who come in wearing a football team shirt will get a 10 percent discount off of chemical services purchase with a cut and style.

Looking ahead, Carroll says, “I’d just like to see a successful, stable, balanced, professional business. I don’t need to be huge, as long as everyone’s happy.” Learn more about Fabu’ Salon on their website at www.fabusalononline.com, or call them at 410-544-1277.
