Cypress Creek Promotes Natural Health Approach

Most people think of physical therapy as a post-surgical option, something your doctor prescribes for you after a procedure. However, physical therapy is actually much more than that. It can help prevent the need for surgery in the first place, and even reduce the need for medications as well as help patients develop stronger, healthier bodies and avoid further injury. In Severna Park, locals turn to Cypress Creek Therapy Associates for their whole-body approach and stellar customer service.

“Brian Gallagher, PT, first opened this business in February 2000,” explains CEO Denise Muncie. “He had been doing in-home work for other companies and channeled that same care and passion into creating a one-stop outpatient facility for people to come to.”

Gallagher was originally a pre-med student, but after seeing doctors perform surgery and offer medications, and then observing physical therapists having fun and offering practical solutions that actually helped patients without invasive procedures, he was hooked. He and his wife, both Severna Park residents, first established the business in Cypress Point. His goal was to create a place where patients could come and get better. Their philosophy is based on community support, customer experience and staff education. “We have a pulse on what’s happening in our community, so we can help those around us,” explains Chris Lee, Director of Public Relations.

“We offer care, compassion and trust,” says Muncie. “We try to heal our neighbors without drugs or surgery. We offer a wellness detox program and a fitness center with personal trainers.” Cypress Creek is the only place in the county where people will find physical, occupational, aquatic and speech therapy for kids and adults alike; and they accept all forms of insurance, including TriCare and Medicaid.

“We provide over-the-top customer service,” Muncie continues. “Our Cinema Center offers televisions and recliners for patients to be social and enjoy their time with us.” Cypress Creek takes community involvement to new heights, working with Camp Blaze, the Green Hornets (they’re behind the water bottles provided on the first day of practice), the Severna Park Falcons, and local schools. Plus there is the work with the Arthritis Foundation, the Department of Aging, and the Myositis Foundation.

Looking forward, Muncie puts community first. “We want to offer education, quarterly seminars to provide information for geriatrics and other local needs. We want to expand the services within our walls rather than open a new location,” she says.

“We try hard to bring in the best staff members we can,” Lee explains. “Everyone has the same goal of customer service and a willingness to refer friends and family here.”

Cypress Creek even offers their Health and Wellness Center Detox Program free of charge to active and retired firefighters. The program is designed to teach alternatives to medication and surgery, including organic options, vitamins, and a holistic approach to total health and wellness.

The company has two locations, in Severna Park and Edgewater, and both are currently accepting new patients. Cypress Creek Therapy Advocates can be reached online at www.cypresscreektherapy.com or via phone at 410-544-2500 for Severna Park and 410-956-7868 for Edgewater.
