What started as a passion for building and creating has grown into a decades-long successful local business for Mark Cunningham.
His company, Cunningham Contracting Inc., prides itself on attention to detail and walking clients through every step of a home improvement project.
“We’re like cradle to grave — our guys go out and actually meet with the clients, educate them about the products, do their pricing and measuring and ordering through the materials of the products, and then we also project manage so we’re hands-on from the very beginning to the very end of the project,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham Contracting Inc. offers both residential and commercial remodeling and does work on both single and multi-family homes. As the economic landscape of the country has changed over the years from the recession in 2008 to the more recent coronavirus pandemic, Cunningham’s business has adjusted as well, focusing more on roofing, siding and gutters.
Cunningham advises all homeowners to take their roof maintenance seriously.
“If you have issues from a leaky roof, you have issues with all kinds of things in your home — water going down, mold in the walls, foundation issues,” he said. “That’s why we focus in on the roof.”
In addition to his contracting work, Cunningham has used his business as a vessel to serve young mothers and their babies through the Gabriel Network, an organization that provides housing and other support for these families. Cunningham has assisted both with fundraisers and with the homes themselves.
Cunningham is grateful for fulfilling work that allows him to earn his clients’ trust and confidence.
“I get a great satisfaction being able to help people out, being able to improve their investment and their home,” Cunningham said.
Cunningham Contracting Inc. is based in Crofton and services approximately a 25- to 30-mile radius to include Anne Arundel County, Howard County, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and Baltimore.
