Garry’s Grill & Catering donated 1,000 meals, Hungry Harvest and the Baltimore Washington Medical Center Foundation distributed 200 boxes of produce, and Kiwanis Club of Severna Park volunteers helped distribute it all as people in need drove to the Judy Center at Bell Grove Elementary School in Brooklyn on September 26.

Garry’s Grill owner Eddie Conway, Hungry Harvest general manager Eric Martin and University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center Foundation’s Katie Blaha were on hand for the event.

Conway explained how the idea got started: Walt Anderson asked Conway how he could help, and then the BWMC Foundation offered its support.

“Next thing we know, we’re donating 1,000 meals for 200 families, five dinners each, just to help during times that are uncertain, and at the end of the day, my calling is to help people,” Conway said. “Of course, owning a restaurant is great, but the reason I love doing that so much is because I get to help the community. And if it wasn’t for our community, I wouldn’t be able to do this with these guys, so it’s been amazing.”
