Spring is here, and with it warmer temperatures! It’s time to get out and explore your community and find out just how much Severna Park has to offer. The Greater Severna Park area is made up of great schools, well-supported churches, terrific youth organizations, and a wonderful business community.

Vibrant businesses are a major part of the fabric of our community. By supporting these local businesses, you enrich the overall community. We encourage you to explore Greater Severna Park businesses and use the products and services offered by Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce members whenever you can! You’ll find outstanding customer service, quality products, and the great feeling that comes from supporting local business.

One way to learn more about the members of the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce is to attend our Small Business Showcase at Marley Station Mall on Saturday, May 7. Opening at 10:00am, and concluding at 4:00pm, this event will be held at Center Court, and will include entertainment beginning at 11:00am with the Severna Park Elementary School Chorus. Visitor bags will be given out at the Center Court entrance to the first 300 attendees.

On Wednesday, May 11 the Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce Successful Women in Business program will meet at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church. Beginning at 11:30am, doors will be open to Room 208 on the lower level. Susan von Suhrke of Timely Transitions is our guest speaker. The topic is “Confessions of a Time-Challenged Professional Organizer.” There is no fee for members of the GSPCC to attend, or for first-time guests. Non-members have a $15.00 fee. A brown-bag lunch is your option. Our June 1 Successful Women in Business program will be a joint luncheon with the members of the North Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, to be held at Carrabba’s Italian Grill!

Business Mixers are a great way for business people to get together informally to broaden their range of contacts and build relationships. On Thursday, May 12 there will be one at Office Depot (569 Ritchie Highway) from 5:00-7:00pm. At this event there will be more information on a value-added shopping program the Chamber has opened to its members to save them money on their office purchases.

We’re looking forward to an update on Severna Park High School with Principal Patrick J. Bathras on Thursday, May 26 at Kaufmann’s Tavern. Top items on the agenda will be the school’s replacement program, and also more information on the schools signature program. The cost for members is $35 and for non-members $45 and there is a choice of entrée. For registration go to the Chamber’s website at www.severnaparkchamber.com or call 410-647-3900.

The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce is proud to publish a Business & Community Guide each year. This publication not only highlights our members, but also provides valuable information on our community. This year we’re beginning production on a revolutionary new “flip book” Live Media edition, along with our customary printed copies. We’re working with Bay Media on the production of this exciting convergence of print and digital media. For more information on this, and other Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce activities and programs, please call Linda Zahn at 410-647-3900. Our website is www.severnaparkchamber.com.
