Well, Punxsutawney Phil the groundhog predicts an early spring! Let’s hope he’s nailed it; winter weather can sure mess up our schedules. Spring is always welcome.
The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce is planning some great events for the remainder of February. On February 15, we’re one of six business organizations involved in the Joint Business Exchange Breakfast at La Fontaine Bleu in Glen Burnie. At this event, people will be able to meet and promote their businesses in a very effective format. There will be door prizes, a full breakfast buffet, and a literature display table. The cost is $25 in advance and $45 at the door. Call 410-647-3900 or visit “registration” on the toolbar at www.severnaparkchamber.com.
There will be a Business Mixer at the Moran Group on Thursday, February 17 from 5:00-7:00pm. The Moran Group is located at 696 Ritchie Highway, Severna Park, on the second floor. To provide a little history, in August 2010 locals Matt Lehmnn and Marc Dorman took over ownership of Moran Insurance. Prior to purchasing Moran Insurance, both Dorman and Lehmann were affiliated with the company in various operational and sales-related positions.
Founded in 1977, Moran Insurance is a 17-person firm that offers a full line of business, home, auto, life, and health insurance products throughout Anne Arundel County, the Metropolitan DC area, Baltimore and the Eastern Shore. As an independent insurance agency, the firm offers customers a wide range of products from a variety of insurers to match the right policy to the customer’s needs.
At the February 17 Business Mixer, there will be several raffles, including a cash raffle. The staff at Moran Insurance plans to mix business and pleasure and provide a productive experience.
It’s always fun to “highlight” local businesses. One is Pro Touch Nails, located conveniently at 51-B West McKinsey Road. The proprietor is Yea K. Lee (Lia), from Seoul, South Korea. She moved to New York City 16 years ago and began working in one of her brother’s salons on 34th Street in Manhattan. She is versed in the fine art of manicure, pedicure, waxing, nails and cosmetics. Lia personally owned and operated salons in Manhattan and New Jersey before her marriage and move to Maryland.
She has carefully invested in the décor, products and personnel to bring Pro Touch Nails up to her standards. Lia is very concerned about top quality products, and favors natural lines. Pro Touch offers premier creams and body butters from “Camille Beckman,” a new spa manicure/pedicure from “Natural Kosmetics,” consisting of home-blended scrubs from natural ingredients of green teas, lemon, and an assortment of flowers and herbs. Pro Touch Nails is the Maryland distributor of “NK” products, formulated with 100% vegetable active ingredients.
The Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce is located at 1 Holly Avenue in Severna Park. We can be reached at 410-647-3900, www.severnaparkchamber.com, and on Facebook.
