Chamber Update

Posted

We are excited to announce our newest members of the chamber: Mindy Adams at J. Hilburn, GymGuyz Annapolis, Park Deli, and Diane and Crew of Taylor Properties.

Fly-by Fridays are back this summer! Many thanks to our sponsor, The Gardiner and Appel Group, for sponsoring three cookouts to be held at the chamber in June, July and August from noon to 1:00pm on the last Friday of the month. We will have standard grilled fare, along with sides and desserts from Effortless Bistro Personal Chef Service, and ice cream from Bruster’s Ice Cream.

On June 7, we joined forces with other Anne Arundel County chambers for a power networking breakfast, held at Yellowfin Steak & Fish House in Edgewater. More than 100 people attended this worthwhile event. Stay tuned for the next one, to be hosted by the Greater Crofton Chamber.

That same day, we attended the Small Business Administration’s 2018 awards luncheon. Five of our members were state winners and accepted their awards in front of hundreds of attendees. They are:

  • Susan Gauthier
    The Cottage

2018 Maryland Entrepreneurial Success of the Year
  • Whitney and Scott Kerridge
    Admiral Cleaners

2018 Maryland Family-Owned Business of the Year
  • Kim Lank
    Waly Wag

2018 Maryland Home-Based Small Business of the Year
  • Louben Repke
    Repke Fitness LLC

2018 Maryland Minority-Owned Small Business of the Year
  • Andrew Hines
    The Bank of Glen Burnie

2018 Financial Services Champion of the Year

On June 9, we held a ribbon cutting for Creative Spaces Remodeling at the new and beautiful Edgewater location. The event was from noon to 4:00pm, with food, entertainment, a tour of the new facility, and much more.

Our Anne Arundel County Young Professionals Mixer was held at the Vida Taco Bar on June 20 on the patio. Our chamber hosted this fun event filled with lively conversation, hot salsa and cold margaritas. Many thanks to Vida Taco Bar for the great service and wonderful food and atmosphere.

This year, our Restaurant Week from July 1-7 includes 18 wonderful establishments. There will be something for everyone, and some of the specials include breakfast! Try someplace new or something new at a favorite place.

Celebrate the birth of our nation at our spectacular Fourth of July Parade. Grab your red, white and blues, and join friends and neighbors for this cherished decades-old tradition. Former chamber CEO Linda Zahn is our grand marshal, and we have more than 80 entries. Some of our wonderful veterans, the SPHS marching band, animals, baton twirlers, and even Elvis will be on parade! We will hold our decorated bike contest for our littlest community members at the chamber location, and they will participate in the parade for a short distance. Please note that parking will be severely limited, so we urge you to park away from the parade route.

As always, visit our website at www.severnaparkchamber.com for event information, stop in for a visit, call 410-647-3900 or email info@gspacc.com! Our doors are always open to you.
