The saying goes that eyes are the windows to the soul. Whether you choose to believe that or not, there is no denying eyesight is a precious thing and finding a good optometrist to provide top-notch vision care is exceptionally important. Since early detection is key to prevention and effective treatment of many common vision and eye problems, it’s important to find an optometrist you can trust.

When looking for a vision-care professional, it’s important to consider experience and services offered. Opting for a local provider, rather than a member of a larger chain can also mean more personalized service, and a higher level of trust thanks to the provider’s community relations.

Looking Glass Optical has been providing vision care services in the same location for over 15 years; prior to that they were New Deal Optical in the Harundale Mall. Optometrist Dr. Mayer Teles has over 30 years experience in vision care and optician Marc Teles has been handling dispensing and lens finishing for over 20 years.

Dr. Teles moved to the area from New Orleans in 1989 and has built his practice around utilizing the latest technological advancements in patient care and providing personal services that include educating patients about their eye health.

Dr. Teles points out that many children pass the vision test at school but are still are not succeeding because they suffer from eye coordination and tracking problems that limit their ability to read properly which cannot be diagnosed in a simple eye test. Dr. Teles at Looking Glass Optical provides therapeutic treatment to help correct these problems.

With the local area growing and the natural aging of the population, the office has recently added two new doctors; general optometrist Dr. Howard Nachman and Dr. Debra Frenkel, who specializes in vision therapy.

“Everyone is always sprinting to get the latest technology,” explains Marc Teles. “We understand this importance, so continuing education and the integration of technology to advance patient care is our primary concern.”

Patient education is tops on the list. “We even email patients a monthly informational newsletter,” continues Teles. “New products, services and coupons are spotlighted in the email.”

Patients looking for more information can turn to the company’s Facebook or Twitter pages in addition to their website. You can find Looking Glass Optical online at www.lookingglassoptical.com, or call 410-768-0202 to schedule an appointment.
