It’s The Midas Touch

Speak the word “Midas” and most people automatically think brakes and mufflers, but Midas of Pasadena on Ritchie Highway is a full-service auto repair shop. It’s also a family business where owners Jeff and Cathleen Sipocz are carrying on a family tradition.
Jeff Sipocz’s father opened the Glen Burnie Midas shop back in 1966 and in February 1996 Jeff opened the doors at the Pasadena location, and has been there ever since.

“I’m following in my father’s footsteps,” explains Sipocz. “This has been the family business for over 45 years… I’ve never done anything else.”
Sipocz, who is a Severna Park resident, comments, “I’ve always liked the area because it’s constantly growing, thriving, and I like the water.”
Sipocz adds that his Midas shop has always been run as a family business. “Our employees have been with us quite some time and our management team is all long term,” he notes. The manager of the Pasadena location started out in Glen Burnie 15 years ago. “He was a broom pusher when he started,” recalls Sipocz, “and worked his way up to management.”
The company also hosts annual picnics and outings, and the big Christmas party; they’ve even sponsored company cruises.
“Honesty is what sets us apart,” explains Sipocz, “that’s the main thing along with value for your dollar. People come in and get real service and friendly faces.”
The Pasadena location has the most repeat customers of all their stores. “That’s a credit to the manager, Frank Thompson, Jr.” praises Sipocz.
Looking forward, Sipocz doesn’t see a dark future tainted by the economy and recession. “I see growth!” he expresses. “Definitely growth! Every year, we’ve had positive growth.”
Sipocz credits his customers for the company’s success. “Our customers are our best asset. There is not a lot of crime here, it’s always a positive place and people feel safe,” he admits.
At the Pasadena shop, customers will find everything from oil changes to replacing their manifold, and the only repair shop to also offer smog checks.
“If it’s under the hood we can fix it… we do it all!” he concludes.
