Broadneck Hosts Seven-On-Seven Football Tournament

No one was waving the white flag on June 4 as football players from 16 teams competed in a seven-on-seven football tournament at Broadneck High School. Contact was limited to ensure player safety, but the players treated it like any other contest as they vied for bragging rights during the single-elimination event.

Patuxent finished as the champion, with Middletown in second. Alongside those schools, participating teams included Annapolis, Broadneck, Charles Herbert Flowers, DuVal, Huntingtown, Kent Island, Meade, Montgomery Blair, Mount Vernon, Northern, Old Mill, South River, Southern and St. Mary’s.

This marked the third year of Broadneck planning the tournament, although last year’s event was canceled due to the Canada wildfires.

“We had 16 schools, private, public and one from Virginia,” said Broadneck head football coach Rob Harris. “It is super early in everyone's summer workouts, so it is a great way to get early competition and work versus a variety of teams, offenses and defenses.”
